Maureen E. Harrop is the President of Claridis, Inc. |
Prior to opening her training company in 1997, Maureen's career was in the hospitality industry for sixteen years and the airline industry for six years. Her career in hospitality included management positions in human resources and training.
Maureen’s began her hospitality career in New York City with the corporate office of Princess Hotels International, Inc. At the time, PHI owned Five-Diamond resorts in Acapulco, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. In 1987, the company built the Scottsdale Princess Resort, and Maureen was promoted to the position of Director of Human Resources and Training and relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona. PHI has since been purchased by another hotel corporation.
Maureen maintains a Master of Science Degree in Education. She has taught college courses on customer service, leadership, supervision, and human resource management. Over the past fifteen years, Maureen has worked with the Salt River and Gila River Native American reservations where she has written custom-designed training programs for their employees on the following topics: customer service, conflict management, supervision, motivation, and leadership.
She has also written several articles on the topic of the non-English-speaking workforce. These articles were published in Hospitality News, Empire State Food Service News, and Today's Grocer. One article, “Managing a Non-English-Speaking Workforce” was published in the 2004 Prentice Hall textbook entitled, Human Resource Management in the Hospitality Industry. Throughout her career, Maureen has been involved in quality-oriented organizations and has transferred this philosophy to Claridis.
