DIS COMPANY AND MEDUNITY COLLABORATE TO IMPROVE DIAGNOSTIC TEST RESULTS REPORTING, VIEWING AND SHARING:
Press Release – Summer, 2011: The Diagnostic Information System (DIS) Company and MedUnity and have joined forces to found and develop the ClariDIS Corporation. ClariDIS will be the exclusive U.S. provider of the patented DIS standard format for reporting cumulative diagnostic test results as clinically integrated information that can be efficiently viewed and shared for the first time.

The ClariDIS platform-neutral technology solution uses a clinically intuitive standard format to aggregate, integrate and collate the cumulative results of over 6,500 available tests results from multiple clinical lab and other testing sites and display them in the same way on up to 80 percent fewer screens and printed pages. The ClariDIS technology solution was specifically designed to minimize clicks and unnecessary testing, enhance workflow and patient safety, and facilitate care coordination.
ClariDIS, available as web-based middleware or as an onsite service, can be integrated into the presentation layer of any existing EHR, PHR, LIMS or HIE platform to facilitate secure data translation and format test results delivery services and is ideally suited for the development of customized, event-driven clinical decision support system (CDSS) applications.
Robert D. Coli MD, founder and CEO of the Diagnostic Information System (DIS) Company notes that “all ambulatory and inpatient EHR, PHR, LIMS and HIE platforms display diagnostic test results and clinical notes for viewing by physicians and patients.” Test results are vital and voluminous. Despite their importance in patient care, ambulatory and inpatient EHR, PHR, LIMS and HIE platforms are still using infinitely variable formats to report results as incomplete, fragmented data. In Dr. Coli’s experience, “this structural design flaw disrupts physician workflow, wastes time, and increases both testing costs and the risks of diagnostic and therapeutic errors.” In order to provide cost-effective care of the highest quality, the physicians who order the tests and share them with their colleagues and patients should have accessible timely, accurate, and complete information that is easy to view and exchange.
Fortunately, with increasing emphasis on more usable EHRs and their meaningful use, there is a growing recognition that “the promise of digital records will be unfulfilled if doctors refuse to adopt them because they regard the technology as cumbersome, time-consuming, and possibly dangerous.” (2) At the same time, notes Dr. Coli, “There are increasing demands for lower testing costs, improved patient safety, seamless interoperability, and both professional and institutional accountability for costs and quality.
